 Sandy Springs Youth Sports, in concert with other youth baseball leagues in the North Metro area, offers Buddy Baseball for special needs children, ages 5 to 18.

In this program, special needs players are paired up with youth players from other SSYS baseball teams to have fun games of baseball with Buddy Baseball teams from the surrounding area. These games are typically played on Saturday afternoons at Morgan Falls Park Field #4.

Our Buddy Baseball coaches are experienced with special needs children and work to accommodate for a wide variety of ability and skill.  The objective is to ensure all participants have fun playing baseball in a safe and instructional environment.

SSYS Buddy Baseball Parents:

Spring is in the air! Thanks to Coach Millikan in securing us the best season ever. A couple of logistical items for the year.

1) Uniforms: As tradition, SSYS will provide uniforms for all of our players.(Hat, Jersey, Pants, Socks, Belts) Most of the returning players do have several years of jerseys, hats, etc. We will be using the same uniform styles this year. New parents, please send me the jt-shirt and pants sizes of your child, preferred number and name on jersey. Returning Parents, please send me info if you need new jersey or pants, if you need them.

We will have old school hats and socks for all players. We will also distribute at our first game on 3/10.

2) Walk Up Songs: Another tradition is the playing of walk up songs for the players. Please get with your child and decide on their favorite song! For our new parents, this is one of the best aspects of the game. The excitement from the players is amazing. I will compile the list, and have them ready for 3/10. Please send them to me with the uniform order.

3) First Game: 3/10 at 11:30: Usually we would have an internal practice and uniform hand outs before the season. This year, with the increased number of games, we will have to combine these events. Our first game starts at 11:30 on 3/10. We will have the administration building open starting at 9 AM to facilitate uniform distribution, coffee, OJ, and Donuts, and let our new players meet their new team. We will hit the fields at 11 AM. Pictures are also this day.

4) Buddy Baseball Sponsorship: As a first, our team will have an official sponsor this year.  Cowlicks Yogurt and Floats has two stores, in Sandy Springs and Vinings. More to come on this new sponsorship, but I see some tasty treats for our players this year!

5) SSYS Opening Ceremony: 3/17 at11:30 AM: Our original schedule had an inter-squad game on this date/time. As most of you know, this is a very hectic day at the park. So, we will not have this scrimmage as planned. BUT, I would like to see if we can get response in participating in the Opening Ceremony parade. Meet time would be 10:30 at the admin building, and we will be done by 1:00 PM. Please let me know your thoughts.

6) Buddy Baseball Braves Night: Mark your calendars for May 30 at 7:00PM. We will be going to the Braves/Cardinals game again, and have the opportunity to go to the field and participate in the pre-game parade. This is truly a great way to end our season. This is a free event for our players and families.
